Consultancy

I’m all about change for the better. Co-designed. Human-centred.

Over 30 years as a team member, leader and consultant, I worked my way up in the media, arts and government, shaping and delivering change across Scotland. My expertise lies in service design, strategy, communication, business development, stakeholder engagement, culture change and customer service.

Most recently, I’ve shaped and delivered community-led place-making projects in Dumfries & Galloway: creating the Place Plan for Stranraer where £50 million of investment is currently being invested and leading engagement for the £200 million SCAMP (Solway Coast & Marine Project) coastal restoration project.

I’ve worked across many sectors: arts and culture, environment and education, infrastructure, housing and health, life and death. Over the decades, I’ve run teams in venues: Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Arts Centre; Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s, Music Hall and Lemon Tree; Perth Theatre & Concert Hall; Stirling’s Tolbooth and Albert Halls. I’ve worked in local and national government and national institutions: Creative Scotland, Scottish Government, Learning & Teaching Scotland. I’ve supported Board and organisational development at Eden Court, Platform, Dundee Rep, Macrobert, The Arches. I’ve worked on capital projects: the £300 million development of City College Glasgow; Aberdeen Music Hall’s £12 million refurb; Paisley’s £100m transformation of its Museum, Town Hall and Arts Centre.

In pursuit of passion projects - doing life and death better - I founded the Scottish charity, A Quiet Revolution, training and developing a network of Humanist celebrants. This built on a decade’s work, developing the world's first platform for end of life planning, the multi award-winning Final Fling. I served on the Board of Caledonian Cremations and supported the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care, Cruse, Edinburgh Sick Kids and other end of life charities.

I have a Masters in Design Innovation from Glasgow School of Art, winning the Chairman’s Medal for Innovation and the Innovation School’s inaugural Innovation by Design prize for my work to end funeral poverty and revitalise the funeral industry.
